The Percy Grainger Home and Studio holds a broad collection of objects and materials including sheet music, furnishings, musical instruments, papers and letters. The Grainger’s seemingly saved everything and the home feels like a step back into their lives in White Plains. Visitors often remark about the depth and variety of objects on view.
Exhibitions give us the opportunity to share more of the collection while providing a focus or interpretation, and can enhance our understanding of the Grainger’s lives. Our current exhibit, Paper, Line, Color: Percy Grainger as a Visual Artist, provides a glimpse into the range of Percy’s work as an artist. On display, the objects from our collection include childhood drawings, paintings, sheet music, and prototypes for many of his graphics. Samples of beadwork and textile studies demonstrate his interest and appreciation of folk art from cultures around the world.
