Reminder: the next meeting of the Membership and Programs Committee (MPC) is scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11 am EST via Zoom. MPC Chair Bill Garlette will continue the discussion of potential projects that explore Percy Grainger’s life, music, and connections to those who have significantly contributed to the advancement of Grainger's legacy. As always, the MPC Chair is happy to discuss any aspect of the Membership and Programs Committee before or after the meeting. Email Bill Garlette at bill@percygrainger.org with any questions. September Events Galore! New Exhibit at the Percy Grainger Home & Studio |

We are delighted to invite you to the grand opening of an extraordinary new exhibit, "Tone Rhythm Pitch: Exploring Percy Grainger's Free Music," at the Percy Grainger Home & Studio. This event will take place on Thursday, September 14, from 5 to 7 pm, at 7 Cromwell Place, White Plains, NY.
Drawing inspiration from the sounds of nature, Grainger's lifetime passion was Free Music. Through a carefully curated collection of original photos, artifacts, and displays, we aim to transport you into the mind of this musical genius as he explored his vision of music for the future.
Special guests for the evening include Dr. Paul Jackson, Percy Grainger Society President, who will be visiting White Plains for the week, and the West Point Academy Clarinet Quartet, paying homage to Grainger with a performance at 6:30 pm.

Join Percy Grainger Society President Paul Jackson in conversation with author Terry Balough via Zoom on September 15 at 5 pm EST for the launch of her new biography, The Life and Work of Percy Aldridge Grainger: Till Life Become Fire.
Author Teresa R. Balough, an adjunct professor of music history at Eastern Connecticut State University, has been studying the life and work of Percy Grainger for many years, since the publication of her Complete Catalogue of the Works of Percy Grainger in 1975. |

Volunteer Spotlight September Third Sundays Tour Features Free Music Exhibit
|
|
|
We are pleased to announce that Percy Grainger Society President, Dr. Paul Jackson, will be leading the next Third Sunday tour of the Percy Grainger Home and Studio on September 17, 2023 at 2 pm EST. The tour will focus on Grainger's approach to Free Music and offer visitors the opportunity to view the newly-conserved Gliding Tones on Whistle, Notes on Recorders machine, one of only two remaining examples of Grainger's Free Music machines. This event is free and open to the public, but due to space limitations, registration is encouraged. |
