DECEMBER 2025

Feature of Note

 Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays from the Percy Grainger Home and Studio! This time of year, we're especially fortunate to enjoy the spirit of the season through an intriguing historic resource -- Percy and Ella's holiday greeting cards! Bundled with twine and stored meticulously by Ella, the cards offer a captivating look at the styles and sentiments of days gone by...

Click the image above to view a video collage of selected greeting cards received by the Graingers in 1959 (and make sure to have your sound on to hear Percy at the piano). May the well-wishes they received bring you joy this holiday season, too! If you would like to see more of the Graingers' 1959 holiday cards, follow this link to our latest blogpost.

Giving Tuesday 2025:
Still Time to Contribute!

Giving Tuesday 2025

What is the Impact of Your Support on the Percy Grainger Society's Mission?

Your contribution, no matter the size, will help the Society continue to support membership programming and activities, publish and distribute The Grainger Journal, bring history to life for visitors (virtual and in-person), create public programs in the arts and humanities, support ongoing repair and restoration of the Percy Grainger Home and Studio, and contribute to our efforts to care for and document the collection.

Once again, we have a match to multiply the impact of your gift. Every contribution received between November 1, 2025 and January 31, 2026 is matched, doubling your gift (up to $9,000). Follow this link to learn more about the programs and projects that have been successfully implemented through generous support of our mission. We thank you for being a part of the Grainger legacy and hope you will join us this Giving Tuesday!

Support Grainger's Legacy

At the Home & Studio

Percy and Ella at
Gustavus Adolphus College

Highlights from the Collection

The collection at the Percy Grainger Home and Studio has many treasures, including numerous examples supporting our current programming theme, Grainger the Educator. One particularly exciting item from the collection is a box of photos from the Graingers' visit to Gustavus Adolphus College in 1941. Percy and Ella Grainger had developed a strong relationship with Gustavus Adolphus College and their band director Frederic Hilary. During his visit in 1941, Percy Grainger gave lectures, performed, and even traveled with the Gustavus Adolphus College Band (on their bus) for a two-week performance tour through Minnesota. Grainger enjoyed his time with the students so much that he and Ella returned to campus on three additional occasions during the 1940s.

This link to our blog post highlighting Percy and Ella's 1941 campus visit includes additional photos and anecdotes. Like the Percy Grainger Society, Gustavus Adolphus College has a collection of Grainger photos as well as many stories about Percy and his time at the college.
